Tijdens de wandelreis op de Peloponnesus in Griekenland ontdekken we het schiereiland Mani in het zuiden. In Nafplion beklimmem we het Palamidi-fort en in Athene de Akropolis. In het zuiden wandelen we vanuit Kardamýli in de Viroskloof en vanuit Sotirianika maken we een wandeling langs kloosters en kastelen. In het diepe zuiden wandelen we vanuit Gerolimenas op Kaap Tigáni en daarna vanuit de stad Sparta in het Taygetos-gebergte.

Ga je met de auto, dan kun je de trip van 3000 kilometer bekorten door vanuit Italië [Bari of Ancona] de ferry [veerboot] naar b.v. Patras of Igoumenitsa te nemen. Boek wel vooraf, want in het hoogseizoen kom je er met je auto ter plaatse niet aan te pas. Bovendien krijg je bij vooraf bestellen een behoorlijke korting op de retourprijs!

Treinverbindingen van Patras naar Athene en belangrijke steden.

Boats leave Patra daily to a number of destinations. Er zijn directe veerverbindingen met de Italiaanse havens Bari [ Apulië ], Brindisi [ regio Apulië in de laars van Italië ] en Ancona [ hoofdstad regio Marche ].

Busdienst tussen Patras en Athene [ ca. 3 uur ] met regelmatige vertrektijden. Evenzo vaste verbindingen met Cephalonia, Ithaca en Igoumenitsa.

Grieks schiereiland en gelijknamige nomos met hoofdplaats Nauplion in het oosten van de Peloponnesos.
Nomos met de meeste oude monumenten, de oudste stad in Griekenland, Argos, en de eerste hoofdstad die op de Turken heroverd werd: Nafplio.

The archaeological site of Olympia was the site called the Sacred Grove of the Altis, regarded as belonging to Zeus in which, in historically recorded times, the most famous of Greek sanctuaries was estabilshed.

Belangrijke toegangspoort tot Griekenland vanwege de haven. De stad is verder bekend vanwege carnaval.

 Sparta  -  Laconia
Sparta or Sparti is the capital of the prefecture of Laconia. It is a simple town, which was built in the middle of the Evrotas river valley, in the same site where the ancient city was. Some ruins remain of the ancient acropolis, the sanctuary of Artemis Orthia (6th c. B.C.), the tomb of Leonidas (5th c. B.C.) and the Menelaion.

The centre can be found on the Northwest side of the Helmou at an altitude of 1700m to 2340m. It opened in 1988 and has modern installations with 8 sky lifts and 13 slopes of all skiing levels. It is situated 14km from Kalavrita and is open daily from 08.30 in the morning until 16.00 in the afternoon, during the winter season 
 Kythira
The island of Kythira is located 14 nautical miles off Cavo Maleas on the southeastern most tip of the Peloponnese, between Crete and Peloponnese.
Mostly rocky with many streams, it produces wine, goat cheese, olives, corn, and flax. On the south shore is Kythira, the chief village, formerly called Kapsali. Ancient Kythira was a centre of the cult of Aphrodite. The island passed to Greece in 1864.
