 Harrogate
The Harrogate District is a great holiday destination. Harrogate is 'England's Floral Town' with a fascinating spa heritage and is renowned for its floral beauty and elegant spa buildings, including the Royal Pump Room Museum and Turkish Baths.
At the ancient market town of Knaresborough, discover the medieval Castle and Courthouse Museum plus Mother Shipton's Cave and lovely riverside walks. Ripon City boasts its very own 'Hornblower', whose nightly tradition of 'setting the watch' has been maintained for over 1,100 years, while the magnificent Cathedral dates back to the 7th century.

 Haworth  -  VVV Haworth
On the edge of the Pennine Moors is the village of Haworth. Its steep Main Street, paved with stone setts and lined with historic inns, shops, galleries and cafes, leads down to one of Britain's best preserved steam railways.
More than a century ago, when the Reverend Patrick Brontë came to be a minister at Haworth Parish Church, the village was little more than a collection of stone-built weavers' cottages huddled together for protection from the harsh cold winds.
Yet within a few decades, a series of books written by three of Patrick's daughters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne, caused this obscure Yorkshire village to become a major centre for literary pilgrimage.
 Herriot Country
Herriot Country is the broad, fertile land lying between the North York Moors National Park to the east and the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west. Famed for being the inspiration for one of the world's best-loved writers, James Herriot.
 Hull  -  maritime City of Kingston upon Hull

 Leeds
Leeds' reputation for shopping goes from strength to strength, and the designer names keep on coming - Vivienne Westwood, Gieves and Hawkes, Karen Millen, but it's not just expensive shopping.  Yorkshire Coast  -  Coastal resorts

 Gaping Gill  -  langste, ononderbroken waterval in Engeland
Gaping Gill is een enorme grot in de limestone moors [ kalksteenheide? ] in de buurt van het dorp Clapham. Hier sort de Fell Beck zo'n 105 meter naar benden in een verbazengwekkende, kathedraalachige kamer. Het is de grootste ondergrondse ruimte met een natuurlijke opening naar het oppervlak van de aarde. Yorkshire has a fascinating and intriguing history, with stories of romance, violence, heroism and adversity spanning over 2000 years. Monuments of centuries shaped by the hands of Roman and Viking invaders and medieval monks have been preserved to recount such tales.
Yorkshire has been witness to a great deal of national history, including Roman invasions, Viking settlements, Saxon successes, Monarchy changing battles, the foundation of Methodism, great aristocracy and the industrial revolution.
Yorkshire has also been important to British Monarchs from the earliest times. Legend has it that King Arthur is buried in a crypt underneath Richmond Castle, Richard III grew up at Middleham Castle and Yorkshire has played a very strategic role in the history of England and for a succession of medieval Kings. Stamford Bridge in Yorkshire ended the long Viking threat to England and the region was pivotal during the War of the Roses and the Civil War, which tore the country apart.
