Het eiland Dominica ligt ten zuiden van Guadeloupe en ten noorden van Martinique, en behoort tot de Benedenwindse Eilanden van de Kleine Antillen.
Dominica is het meest noordelijke eiland van
de Winward eilandengroep en staat bekend als hét natuureiland van het Caribisch gebied. Natuurliefhebbers kunnen hier hun hart ophalen: ruige en onbedorven stukjes natuur, spectaculaire valleien met
tropisch regenwoud, watervallen en kronkelende riviertjes. Het eiland is lid van het Britse Gemenebest met als voertaal Engels, maar omdat het eiland ooit Frans eigendom was, wordt er ook Frans
gesproken, maar dan wel de creoolse versie.
