de grootste en gevaarlijkste onderneming ooit bedacht te plannen. Tot nu toe hadden ze alleen treinen beroofd
. Omdat de Daltons jaren in Coffeyville hadden gewoond werden ze herkend. Emmett overleefde, werd opgelapt en veroordeeld. In 1907 kreeg hij gratie.
Recentelijk krijgt het plaatsje aandacht door het triviale feit dat het plaatsje op Google het centrum van de wereld zou zijn.
