SFM's exhibitions promote awareness and appreciation of science fiction literature and media while encouraging visitors to envision new futures for humanity.
 Jimmy Hendrix
Rock guitarist extraordinaire Jimi Hendrix was put to rest in 1970 at Renton's Greenwood Cemetery, 350 Monroe Ave. N.E. Last November, the Seattle rock legend's remains were moved to a lavish new memorial in the southwestern corner of the cemetery. The memorial features a nearly 30-foot-high granite dome supported by three pearl-gray columns trimmed in "rainbow" marble. The cemetery is not gated, and is open dawn to dusk. Office hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and by appointment Sunday.
 Museum of Flight 
The Museum's collection includes more than 150 historically significant air- and spacecraft, as well as the Red Barn®—the original manufacturing facility of The Boeing Co. The Museum's aviation and space library and archives are the largest on the West Coast.
 Pacific Science Center
Pacific Science Center began as the United States Science Pavilion during the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. Millions came to explore the wonders of science during the World's Fair and upon closing ceremonies, the Science Pavilion was given new life as the private not-for-profit Pacific Science Center, becoming the first U.S. museum founded as a science and technology center.

In 1959, an unlikely artist inspired by the Stuttgart Tower in Germany was sketching his vision of a dominant central structure for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair on a placemat in a coffee house....
... The 605-foot tall Space Needle was completed in December 1961 and officially opened a mere four months later on the first day of the World's Fair, April 21, 1962.
 Starbucks - de eerste!
Starbucks opened its first store in 1971 in the Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. Because the Market is a historic district with design guidelines, the store retains its original look.
 Washington Park Arboretum
The Washington Park Arboretum is a spectacular urban green space on the shores of Lake Washington just east of downtown Seattle and south of the University of Washington.
Washington's official State Arboretum contains internationally recognized woody plant collections on 230 acres. Noteworthy are North America's largest collection of Sorbus and Maple, the second largest collection of species Hollies and significant collections of oaks, conifers and camellias.
