Maseru - hoofdstad van Lesotho - grootste stad van het land
Maseru ligt in het westen van Lesotho in de laaglanden (wel +1000m boven zeeniveau). Het werd de hoofdstad nadat de Britten zich hier vestigden in 1869, en bleef dat na de onafhankelijkheid in 1966.
Maseru heeft een vliegveld. Hier vandaan wordt een dagelijkse vliegverbinding onderhouden met Johannesburg (Zuid Afrika).
Located on the Caledon River, bordering South Africa, it is Lesotho's only sizable city, with a population of approximately 180,000 (2004). It is the capital or camptown of the Maseru District.
Maseru is located on the border with South Africa, by the Maseru Bridge border post. On the South African side, Ladybrand is the town closest to Maseru.
Maseru was a small trading town when it was made the capital of the Basotho people by Paramount Chief Moshoeshoe I in 1869.

It includes the highest terrain in the Maloti Range and the source of the Senqu River, Lesotho's primary
